my husband is going to be building something just like this for our mudroom. i just haven't told him yet.

A back entry should be just as welcoming as the front door. Here's how to set up a cheerful spot for kicking off your shoes.

Great mud room... check out the built-in shoe storage and hooks for coats and backpacks... jealous!

Bright and cheerful- maybe someday we could have hooks above for grown-ups and below for kiddos :)

Front door do similar bench from one end to other, maybe few shelves for purses, and no hooks, just a mirror with decor shelf above. Neutral grey tile. Shoes under bench. Check if electrical outlet. If so have one shelf out more height of hall table for mood lighting lamp, hold guests keys, etc.

Create zones for children with cubbies, drawers and shoe areas. the storage, and bench. They built this themselves! I would do everything but the top cubbies, it's too high so I'd never use it. Maybe mount some art there instead.

Love the tile throughout for the transition from room to room! Base of lockers

cubby for shoes, a place to sit, baskets for hats and gloves and scarves, hooks for coats.. perfect!

Built in dog bed - I love that the dog bed is built in to the existing storage space. It doesn't take up it's own corner or stick out anywhere. Doesn't necessarily have to be in the mudroom, it could go anywhere you have storage.
