The cinder block "heater" - a cinder block that has a stepping stone on the top as a cover. Inside one cavity of the cinder block I added a light bulb. The light bulb puts off just enough heat to keep the concrete block warm. The waterer then sits on top of the concrete and keeps it just warm enough not to freeze.
nice chicken coop- all wire enclosed to be predator proof. Wire roof to keep the hawks out. Wire underground all around to keep "diggers" from going under. Also, provide a solid roof on part of the shelter for sun, rain, & winter snow protection
Our chickens in their DIY chicken tunnel. We live in a residential area, so to keep the chickens protected from hawks, dogs and other predators (and to keep them out of our neighbor's yard) we hook up their portable play-pen to the run and let them range.
