Sister Angélique - Nansen Refugee Award Ceremony - UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres presented Sister Angélique Namaika of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with the prestigious Nansen Refugee Award in Geneva on Monday night September 30, 2013.
The Nansen Refugee Award marks its 60th anniversary in 2014. Over the years it has recognized human rights defenders, as well as lesser known unsung heroes. Each one has left a rich legacy of dedication, inspiration and perseverance. The Nansen Refugee Award is UNHCR's top humanitarian honour.
Syrian Refugees: Rebuilding Lives in Turkey - Adiyaman camp in #Turkey hosts 10,000 Syrian refugees. Once there, the refugees start to try and rebuild their lives in a positive direction. The camp management, with help from the local municipality, has set up workshops that are giving daily meaning to the lives of the #refugees.
Syrian #Refugees: Crossing The Border To #Jordan - Recently over 1,300 Syrian refugees arrived across the border to northeast Jordan in 24 hours. More than half of them were children, and they reached the remote Ruwaished area after walking for days in the desert. The new arrivals get immediate assistance such as blankets and water, and then begin their three day journey to Za'atari refugee camp.

His mother and three siblings were killed by a bomb in #Damascus, which left the Syrian boy with bad injuries. With the support of his father and help of doctors in Jordan's #Za'atari refugee camp, he hopes to once more walk unaided.
