This superb ruby & diamond ring was part of the personal collection of the last Queen of Italy, Maria-José (1906-2001). When the young, clever & attractive Belgian Princess Marie-José married the Prince of Piedmont, future Umberto II in 1930, she received jewellery inherited from the fabulous private collection of his grandmother, Queen Margherita. This ring was a gift from the scholar & bibliophile, Tammaro de Marinis to mark a long friendship, based on a shared passion for art & history.
