Lost for Words: A Novel by Edward St. Aubyn. One of my favorite British writers has jumped into the book awards fray, and produced a story full of riotous satire. While he's been shortlisted, he has never won Britain's big prize, the Booker, and it's doubtful they will give it to him for this one. It would go against tradition to give it to a book written for readers and not for prizes.
Edward St. Aubyn's 'Lost For Words' is a satirical novel that follows a quirky group of literary hopefuls vying for a prestigious book award, owned by a Chinese conglomerate. One of my favorite reads of 2015, its brief length does not telegraph smallness ... Filled with wit and the kind of writing I feel comfortable with (self excoriating while showing off), Edward St Aubyn is a happy literary find for me.

She could weed out bad boyfriends with a sniff of her button-black nose and win the hearts of lifelong friends with an adoring gaze. The Lola Quartet - Emily St. John Mandel - Books Worth Reading
Worth Reading, Lola Quartet, Books Worth, Books I M, Book Review, John Mandel S
Emily St. John Mandel's second literary noir, "The Lola Quartet," is a decade-spanning, well-compressed novel with a pared-down style. Its plot begins with the stuff of TV movies: a drug-money theft . . . a runaway single mother . . . and the boyfriend who lost touch back when she was 16 and pregnant.
Our Featured Audio Sample of The Lola Quartet by Emily St. John Mandel. The Book Pod Episode #01-Seg3, via SoundCloud
The Lola Quartet: A Novel by Emily St. John Mandel - The Lola Quartet is a work that pays homage to literary noir, is concerned with jazz, Django Reinhardt, economic collapse, love, Florida’s exotic wildlife problem, crushing tropical heat, the leavening of the contemporary world, compulsive gambling, and the unreliability of memory.
The Lola Quartet, In her most ambitious novel yet, Emily Mandel combines her most fully realized characters with perhaps her most fully developed story that examines the difficulty of being the person you'd like to be, loss, the way a small and innocent action (e.g., taking a picture of a girl in a foreclosed house) can have disastrous consequences.
The Lola Quartet by Emily St. John Mandel. I've read all of her books. Can't wait to read her latest!
Emily St. John Mandel's The Lola Quartet: excellent, suspenseful trans-continental plane reading.
