map covered storage boxes. I love these. I have maps, I have shoe boxes. Excellent idea. One could also cover boxes in which holiday gifts are stored in boxes papered with maps of the recipients home state.

Simple DIY, map covered storage boxes -- just wrap shoe boxes or other small boxes in old maps the way you would wrap any gift, only wrap the top separately from the bottom. Easy and cool looking!

GO map letters -- $15 -- from CarolinaCottage on etsy.com I've been wanting to decoupage letters for a while. A new years seems to be a good time to try a new item; so here we go... I decoupaged the word "GO" in vintage maps. These maps happen to be of Michigan and Wisconsin; chosen mostly for their vibrant colors. The entire letter is painted black and varnished to a glossy shine. The letters are made of solid wood and are protected with 3 coats of varnish. Each letter is 9" tall, 7" wide and 1/4" deep. There is a hole in the back for hanging or the letters can be set on a table or shelf. Other words and/or letters available. Please contact me.

Link doesn't work...but I was wondering what to do with all of the old road maps I have at school...Geo books are getting a makeover!

*using maps to cover books, love this look for a bookcase display

Map Covered Books Sturdy road maps make fitting covers for geography and foreign language textbooks. Cut a piece of map large enough to wrap around a closed book, leaving at least a two-inch border on all sides. Once the book is covered, tie a ribbon to a paper clip; slide the clip onto the cover's spine for a bookmark.
