Great of ageing wood, I also use vinegar with a couple of copper coins and a spoon of coffee, leave it for a week and its ready to use, gives a lovely naturally aged finish to new wood or just to blend in cut ends...:

DIY Vintage Wood Stain- wad of steel wool, cup coffee grounds & vinegar to cover. Soak overnight, rub steel wool on wood, let dry! Repeat if necessary.
