I love looking for the assembly lines in this quilt, and how ordinary shirting stripes are transformed from conservative to lively with right angles. Birdhouse family tree quilt My grandson asked me on day why do you have some many bird in you house. I told him I love to be outside so this is a way to bring the outside in the house.

Tree Quilt Leaves: The woman who made this sketched the tree trunk and branches on swedish tracing paper and then used that as a template for the brown fabric. I made templates for three different sized leaves out of scrap cardboard and used it to trace and cut out leaf shapes on three different green fabrics and then some random pretty fabrics from my stash.
