East Street valley looking towards Downtown Pittsburgh, 1974 - mostly demolished for the six-lane Parkway North
Suburbanites easily zip in and out of the city on the Parkway North, and in doing so they pass through a valley that was once home to thousands of people and hundreds of businesses. Most of the East Street Valley neighborhood was demolished to make way for six lanes of traffic. Only the domed St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church remains. Winter scene on the Andy Warhol Bridge in Pittsburgh, PA. Originally opened on June 17, 1926 as the Seventh Street Bridge, it was renamed in honor of Pittsburgh's famous native son. Spanning the Allegheny River, it is the only bridge in the United States named for a visual artist. The bridge was renamed for Warhol on March 18, 2005, as part of the tenth anniversary celebration of the Andy Warhol Museum.
Love this picture of the snowy bridge. Is it the Rachel Carson, the Roberto Clemente, or the Andy Warhol? .. in Pittsburgh, Pa
Snow covered bridge.

South Hills street car
Loved taking the streetcar from Mt. Lebanon to Pittsburgh with my grandmother. She'd take us to Kaufmann's and then a grilled cheese at a lunch counter.

On September 17, 2004, the remnants of Hurricane Ivan dumped 5.9 inches of rain on Allegheny County, breaking the one-day rainfall record of 3.6 inches, which had been set only nine days earlier by the remnants of Hurricane Frances. The flooding caused by Ivan damaged and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses.

Grand Concourse Restaurant at Station Square was formerly the P. & L.E. Railroad station in the late 1800s & early 1900s. An architectural gem saved for and by the people of Pittsburgh.
