This book plays out a theme common to most, if not all, of King's books: humans are capable of true evil, but the goodness of the few redeems us as a species. The dome in the book could have been anything - the true story is how people would react to being isolated from the larger world. And as expected, some rise to the occasion while others see it as an opportunity to grab power. King doesn't pull any punches either. A good read, but certainly not a cheerful one. #13 in the Book a Week in 2012 Challenge at the #WTM boards. Worth Reading, Books Worth, Movie, Under The Dome, Stephenking, Stephen Kings

Under The Dome by Stephen King - I know it's coming out on HBO, but it's the first good Stephen King I've read in a decade. 7/20/13 update - WAY WAY different than the TV movie.
Under the Dome was the best Stephen King book I ever read....I'm still waiting for the movie to come out.
Book worth LISTENING to...the audiobook is great fun - a real thrill ride!...on 24 of 30 CDs.....mades a long drive much shorter...
Read it: Had this book on my shelf for a long time and finally picked it up to read it in 2013 before I watched the TV series: Under the Dome by Stephen King
Under the Dome: A Novel - as good as I remember. I'm a Stephen King fan...but, like, not the ones that scare the bejeebers out of me.
Under The Dome was another one of Stephen King's books that I could just not put down. It was amazing and there was a new twist at every turn. So awesome!!

Misery, by Stephen King. Not gonna lie, I read this ever year. It's my favorite book by Stephen King. Every time I read it, the way its written makes me react as if it were the first time I have read it. Really ramped up my fascination with claustrophobic stories, stuff that focused more on psyche than anything else. Love it!
Misery - Stephen King. A favorite. Again, the movie doesn't do it justice and ends differently than the book!
Misery by Stephen King. Book #37 for 2015. If you're familiar with King then you know he swears a decent amount in his books, but generally it's not excessive & fits the story/characters. Otherwise excellent book, truly disturbing & scary, great read.
Stephen King. "Misery".
Misery - Stephen King Book was so much better than the movie.

This was the first book I read by Stephen King. I remember seeing the made for TV movie and was interested in reading it. It took me quite a while to finish it though, and I've read it several times ... but it remains one of my favorites.

My favorite Stephen King book. Read it several times over the years. Still think Randall Flagg (the devil) was a great character, along with the pyromaniac dude. The 'good' characters were very empathetic....Though I haven't read it in awhile, I would bet it still 'stands' up. har har!
The Stand, by Stephen King. Cause of Apocalypse: killer flu (even Sam and Dean can't fight this one...lol) My favorite book ever!
The Stand by Stephen King. I read this years ago, and it was a spellbinder as most of King's books are.

# 3 THE STAND Stephen King, for many years, was disparaged by critics. I did not care, I bought every single book he wrote. This one, by far, is his best. The first time I saw it on one of those best book lists I was so excited! Other people also finally recognize it for the incredible work it is. Something I've known for more than three and a half decades. It's a huge book, but well worth the time it takes to read it.

The Book Thief / by Markus Zusak. One of my all time favorite books. And I just saw the movie and it was absolutely amazing! I tried so hard not to crazy so, naturally, I cried the whole time.
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak - Google Books - I'm reading this now and this is definitely a book worth reading.
The Book Thief / by Markus Zusak I absolutely love this book, I cannot bring myself to watch the movie it cannot possibly be as good.
***** The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Definitely a book worth reading. This is a look at an inhumane time period, viewed through the eyes of, and narrated by, Death. As Death is haunted by humans, you'll be haunted by this narrative.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak- I read the book and then saw the movie, and I still can't get enough! WARNING-tear jerker
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. This is another one of those hallowing reads that changes your perspectives and tugs at your heart strings. It's modern and beautiful - and I think they are making a movie of it. Must Read, must see!

The Help By Kathryn Stockett. I know everyone's into this book right now, but that doesn't change the fact that it's worth reading.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett | Great book and movie.. Really makes you think about the prejudices in society nowadays
The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Even if you've seen the movie... read the book. It is wonderful and more alive than watching real people play it out on the screen.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett This book is so powerful and I love it and the movie. I recommend it to *everyone* (+16)
The Help by Kathryn Stockett From page two, the voice in this book had me captivated. I couldn't put it down. The characters wrap themselves around your finger and won't let go. Transported to the 1950's South, you will cry, shout, be so angry you could spit, and laugh out loud as you are allowed to follow the lives of these unforgettable people. This is one of my all time favorite books. Love it, go get it, READ it!
The Help by Kathryn Stockett Skeeter returns home to Mississippi from college in 1962 and begins to write stories about the African-American women that are found working in white households, which includes Aibileen, who grieves for the loss of her son while caring for her seventeenth white child, and Minny, Aibileen's sassy friend, the hired cook for a secretive woman who is new to town... Saw the movie and it was awesome!

I liked this book a lot. The concept is great, and some of the characters (especially Horace, the Corgi) were wonderful. But sometimes Stephen King has problems with endings, and this was no exception. It just sort of fell apart at the end. Still worth reading, though.

The Book Thief is the story of Liesel Meminger. Liesel is almost ten when she ends up in Molching with Hans and Rosa Hubermann, her new foster parents. It is 1939. In Nazi Germany. Through their eyes we see Hitler and Nazi Germany; we experience the atrocities and the small kindnesses. Zusak’s story is mostly about everyday things: hunger, pettiness, laughter, hope, cruelty and kindness. Loved it.
I enjoyed The Book Thief very much, even though some of its tropes have been overused in so many other books and films (e.g. plucky orphan who wins over her new family). What lifts this book above those others is the quality of its writing, the wonderfully vivid word pictures the author paints, and the depth of its characterization. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book but it won me over. Book #59 in the Book a Week in 2012 Challenge from the #WTM boards.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. This is a story about a girl in WWII Germany who steals books before they can be burned and shares them with her neighbors and a Jewish man who is hidden in her basement. The story is narrated by Death and is appropriately dark, but manages to be uplifting at the same time. So far, my favorite book read in our book club....
Steppenwolf for Young Adults presents its stage adaptation of "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. Chicago, IL. October 16, 2012 to November 11, 2012.
Set during WWII in Germany about a little girl named Liesel. Clever and beautifully written. This is a book worth reading.
The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak (Book Club Kit). It’s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery.
