England-based Alexander Korzer-Robinson enjoys creating narrative scenes by using pre-existing media, such as encyclopedias. Like Brian Dettmer, this artist creates his book sculptures by carefully cutting into pages, exposing some of the illustrations while removing others. Korzer-Robinson's work is very intricate and delicate as well as very time consuming.
Using knives, tweezers and surgical tools, Brian Dettmer carves one page at a time. Nothing inside the out-of-date encyclopedias, medical journals, illustration books, or dictionaries is relocated or implanted, only removed.
READ Another impressive book art find – this time from the very talented Isaac Salazar. I love that his creations are so architectural in nature... the pages are folded to form the textual sculptures in a 3D pop-up diorama. These three are my favourites... a pretty cool life manifesto I think... Read Create Dream :)
