Michelangelo's Pieta en el museo del duomo- one of my favorite museums in Florence.

Pieta, Michelangelo. So lovely. On May 21, 1972, a mentally disturbed man walked into the chapel and attacked the sculpture with a geologist's hammer while shouting "I am Jesus Christ." Onlookers took many of the pieces of marble that flew off. Later, some pieces were returned, but many were not, including Mary's nose, which had to be reconstructed from a block cut out of her back.

Michelangelo's Pieta- this is actually the most beautiful peice of artwork i have ever seen. i cannot get over how realistic and amazing this is.

Slave by Michelangelo. 1513-1516 Paris, Louvre. Did you know: The slave's left wrist is strapped to the back of the neck, and there is a band around his chest. A monkey, only partially carved, grasps his left shin, representing either art as mere "aping" (mimesis) or suggesting earthly passions. The artist and work were influenced by the late BC Rhodian sculpture Laocoön and His Sons.

Ponte Sant'Angelo, Rome | ~ Michelangelo : "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free."
