Carry Seasoning in a Straw Use straws to store salt, pepper, and spices for camping trips. Heat one end of a clear plastic straw with a lighter, then crimp it with your fingers or a multitool. Fill the straw with the desired seasoning, and repeat the process on the other end. Just snip off one of the ends when you’re cooking, and reseal it when you’re done. Outdoor concrete block cast iron cooking platform in my backyard off to the side of the patio -- red pavers on the 'deck' are covered with fire brick for extra heat protection. The block wall toppers are used to cover holes in the blocks and make handy shelf for spices & cooking tools. Nothing cemented, & has held up fine since May 2007, however the toppers do move when bumped. Makes cooking on the Lodge Sportsman's Grill & with my Dutch Ovens very easy. Saves my back, too.
