Gaucho reunion in Salto, Uruguay, for the day of Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro (Our Lady of Perpetual Help). Gaucho is a term commonly used to describe residents of the South American pampas, chacos or Patagonian grasslands. The gaucho plays an important symbolic role in the nationalist feelings of this region, especially that of Argentina and Uruguay.
