DIY Reading lamp that is easy on the eyes ~ It is a gallon milk jug filled with water with a headlamp pointing into the water... ambient light for camping or as night light. Good idea x

Great idea for camping or power outages. Original pinner wrote: I have used candles, headlamps, and at least one portable camping light to provide lighting for reading and writing at night in camp. A drawback of all those tools is the glare of the lamp. By contrast, this simple system is easy on the eyes. It is a gallon milk jug filled with water with a headlamp pointing into the water.

Camping Tip: Take a gallon jug of water and wrap a head lamp around it and you get a soft, ambient light that is easy on the eyes.

Seriously clever! A headlamp around a gallon of water = ambient light for your tent and a great night lamp when the power is out.

This reminds me of a place I used to go bush walking to, me and dad would carry our lunch in our back packs, hike throughout the day and then end with a lovely lunch

Strap a light to a jug of water to create ambient lighting.

Great way to do some campfire cooking ...

Home camp- if you are near a lake, don't forget the canoe. It is great for seeing the stars at night.

Fire on a Chilly Evening--so many times the we have wanted to have a bonfire, only it wouldn't light because the wood was wet--I'm thinking it's a good idea to keep a metal tub filled with wood in the shed for this purpose!

Looking forward to our UP camping trip :)

one of the best things about camping...the sun rise!
