This is a HUGE deal! Kids need to be introduced to literacy very early. Number 2 on this list sounds silly, but you have no idea how many middle school children I have had to teach to use a dictionary. I would also add that you need to ask them to make connections. What does this make you think of? Have you met anyone like that before? Is this like another book we've read?
Ways a Parent Can Help a Child with Reading- So important! As a high school teacher, I cannot stress this enough. Children learn to read when their parents read, and students that learn to love reading perform better in school.
