Old door Table. My mom made a table like this just by putting glass over the door. She used it as her desk

@Tammy Tarng make thisbyour next project.. was old door - now kitchen island Great idea for using these terrific old, and very historical old doors. I have done this many times. As a matter of fact my kitchen table is made of an old door and I have a coffee table made of and old door. I love them!!

What a neat idea!! Doors Galore @Gayle Klever As you can see, the top of the island is an antique door (minus the hardware) and to prevent the paint from chipping either further (food+paint=ewww) a coat or two of polyurethane was used. There was also a 1/4" tempered glass sheet laid over the top to ensure an even prep space but since it's clear you can still see it's unique beauty. {re-do breakdown} Door - $0 (re-used from a previous building) Glass - $75 Wood - $0 (re-used from a previous building) Polyurethane - $0 (purchased for a previous project) Total: $75

This kitchen island is an antique door (minus the hardware). To prevent the paint from chipping further (food+paint=not recommended), a coat or two of polyurethane was used. There was also a 1/4" tempered glass sheet laid over the top to ensure an even prep space but since the glass clear you can still see the door's unique beauty.

using the reclaimed wood idea for kitchen islands instead of tables... antique door + tempered glass = awesome kitchen island!! LAURA: We have several doors on the South side of the house that we could paint and make look older and then add wood or metal legs.
