The Prohibition is the time in American history where alcohol was made illegal for manufacturing and selling. This led to organized crime to rise as gangsters smuggled in alcohol from other countries, as well as making their own illegally. It also led to speakeasies, which were illegal bars that had a front of normal, legal, store. It ended in December 1933, to the relief of many.
