This calculation is used for losing lbs of Fat. Set a realistic goal/time frame & never go under 1,200 calories a day. It may be a bit confusing but as long as you create a deficit of about 500 calories per day from your BMR & exercise, you should lose about 2 lbs of fat per week, which is a healthy rate of loss.
