Remove Popcorn Ceiling Texture. Just in case I need this one day. Me: I just don't know if this is going to work for my ceiling texture. Mine is a more flattened splatter. :( I think I may have to put boards up.... wooden planks. I just didn't want the ceiling to feel lower than the standard 8 feet it is at.

I'm skim-coating my ceiling. Never tried scraping. I wouldn't recommend skim coating as an EASY alternative.

I don't think this will work. Often ceilings are painted on…SEALING the texture to the gyproc. (perhaps MANY, MANY coats of paint.) If you ARE miraculously able to scrape the texture off your ceilings are likely to show MANY imperfections in the gyproc. You certainly can not just hide these imperfections with paint. You will need to add bead board, planking, tin panels, (I've seen) textured wallpaper (painted), OR behold, A NEW SPRAY TEXTURE applied. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! :)

How have I never heard of this? A neat, straight paint line at the top of a wall is tough to achieve next to a bumpy ceiling. So before you paint, drag a narrow flat-head screwdriver lightly along the ceiling. You'll get a clean paint line and no one will ever notice that the bumps are missing.
