Elle decor the seating and ceiling are so much more important with these dark walls. The light holds more value as it moves around the room (as the sun changes position during the day). MRK

Elle decor ... an old house look. Love the wall color and the gorgeous ceiling moldings!

When I came across the home of Casper Vissers this week (a founder of Moooi), I stopped dead in my tracks. The architectural detail is just the icing on the cake in this very fashionable space. The rich wall color is made more dramatic by the dark trim and then is brightened up by the furnishings and whimsical accessories. I just love the contrast of traditional and contemporary, light and dark, serious and playful. Check out Elle Decor Spain for more of this fabulous home.

Best tip ever on designing your space:  Before you begin, decide on your style. It does not need to be all modern or all industrial. Break it down for yourself. For example, you can go: 60% old world - antiques, dark wood, worn in leather, old chests20% boho - artsy, organic, wicker, natural coloring, tapestries10% romantic - baroque, chandeliers, candles10% modern - straight lines, graphical blankets The above approach will guarantee your place will have an individualistic style. Pine looks good again.... good thing I didn't consign my old stuff :).. Time for a floor move.

Clean decor with traditional molding. I love how the x-base pieces are a nod to the period architecture. Way to incorporate different styles!
