Deer skin frock coat and vest decorated with dyed porcupine quills worn by John Brant (Ahyonwaeghs,1794-1832), son of Mohawk chief Joseph Brant. He encouraged the building of schools for his people and 1828 was appointed resident superintendent for the Six Nations of the Grand River.
