This emergent reader little book is a great way to practice reading with young students. This story uses a predictable pattern, "George Washington, George Washington, what do you see?" to support emerging readers. This story includes several President's Day vocabulary words, such as George Washington, Washington Monument, Betsy Ross, American flag, bald eagle, the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, and Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln, but this could have David Crockett with his coonskin hat. The class can then read a book as a class and come up with a list of descriptions of him, and what he contributed to the Texas Revoution. Also could be done with any figure desired in that unit, or any other.
Abraham Lincoln craft for President's Day! I will be using this next year. This is much cuter than the "Abe Lincoln Hat" I did. This activity goes well with the book, Abe Lincoln's Hat. :)
