TIP FOR KEEPING BERRIES FROM GOING MOLDY!! When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted I find you can't taste the vinegar,) and pop in the fridge. The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more…
Cleaning fruit - fill sink with water, add 1 C. vinegar, mix. Add all fruit/veggies and soak for 10 minutes. Water will be dirty and fruit will sparkle with no wax or dirty film. Great for Berries too--keeps them from molding.
Windshield tricks: fill spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water & spritz it on all your windows at night. In the morning, they'll be clear of icy mess. *Squeak-proof your wipers...with rubbing alcohol! Wipe the wipers with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol or ammonia. This one trick can make badly streaking & squeaking wipers change to near perfect silence & clarity. *
Extend the life of your Berries by filling a bowl with one part apple cider vinegar to ten parts water, dumping in the berries & swirling them around a bit and then draining. Place them in a covered container (do not reuse the packaging that they came in) and then put them in the fridge. The vinegar kills any mold spores or bacteria on the berries which should make your berries last for one to two weeks without going bad. Great to know!
