Cinnamon in the Sandbox--- Did anyone else know this? Now that its getting warmer, the kids are going to want to play in the sandbox. Cinnamon in the Sandbox keeps the bugs away! I knew cinnamon repelled ants. but I never thought of this!
Tip of the Day: Keep bugs out of your kids' sandbox this summer with a simple, all-natural bug repellant: cinnamon! Just mix a cup of cinnamon in with the sand and it will repel ants, centipedes, flies, and even neighborhood cats. Really works great!
Recharge towels by washing them once with hot water and vinegar, then a time with hot water and half cup baking soda. This strips the detergent and fabric softener residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again. Works like a charm!
DIY: Nontoxic Method to Kill Ants. Sprinkle cornstarch on the ants, and their path. Wait Spray with water (it works to create a "cement" with the cornstarch) . Within a day or two, the ants will be dead.
A Clean Front Loader: Once a month, add a cup of Distilled White Vinegar and a cup of baking soda during the HOT cleaning cycle. pour them directly into the drum. Then, add about ½ cup of vinegar and ½ cup of baking soda into the detergent dispenser.
Keep wasps and bees away this summer. Put about 10 cloves in a lemon and set out. They do not like the scent. Cut off the ends so they sit flat. We have so many wasps and bees I'm afraid to go outside :D wonder if I can make a pocket version.
DIY Water Table with Water Toys - Plastic Pool on Plastic Crates. I'd probably do ours in green or blue. This also looks like the more feasible diy water table option for me, as I'd have to borrow tools to make any of the other tables!
