Whales are the old guard of the sea, living as long as six to seven decades in many cases. But some species of whale simply will not die. Bowhead whales can live as long as two centuries, and some have been estimated as old as 211 years. The bowhead whale is the second-largest whale (only the blue whale can grow larger), and are thought to be the oldest-living mammal on earth.

The bones were first thought to belong to European Neanderthals, but analysis showed they are genetically closer to the Siberian Denisovans.
