How to soften butter quickly: Just put the stick of butter between two large pieces of wax paper. Using a rolling pin, press down on the butter. Roll it out they way you would roll out a pie crust. When the butter is about 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick, lift off the wax paper and peel away the butter (before it gets too soft to peel).

How to Quickly Soften Butter for Baking. Rated - 4. This worked well enough on a pound of butter I needed for Thanksgiving cookies. A couple of tips I learned in doing this - 1) Cut the butter lengthwise to speed up the process even more. 2) Do all your butter at once. My wax paper ripped from having to hit the butter with the rolling pin to get it flattened out a bit before rolling. After doing 1 stick I finished doing 3 at a time and it worked just as well. Great to use in a pinch!

In no time, the butter will be bake-worthy.

This works well - even if the butter is frozen. I just put it on its side and do 5 seconds, Then turn it one quarter and so on.

Put your stick of butter with the wrapper still on in the microwave. Heat for 4 seconds on high. Flip it to the next side and heat for 4 more seconds. Do this for each side for a total of 16 seconds. This may vary ever-so-slightly depending on your microwave power. The result will be a slightly squishable stick of butter that is softened just right!

One way to get perfectly softened butter is to place butter in a ziploc bag and then in a bowl with hot tap water. Wait 5 minutes and flip halfway through.
