I LOVE this!! Kids bring in a picture frame of their families and the classroom is decorated with them! How sweet to connect home and school!

This is a really sweet idea! Besides making the classroom more like home, the kids can also be aware of what their family looks like for safety reasons. Have Students bring in little framed pictures of their families to keep in the classroom!

*** This is another great hallway poem that I have seen used in a first grade classroom. It was very effective and the students loved it.

"Practicing good hallway behavior is a routine for many teachers at the beginning of the year. Hang this Hallway Poem by your door and teach your students how to walk in the hall"

Do you have a workable system to help you organize your guided reading resources ready for small groups and one-on-one lessons? Genia Connell has written an insightful post on her reading groups over at Scholastic Teachers. I especially love the kidney-shaped table with paper cut to fit, it would be perfect for notes. Pop on over and have a look at her ideas including a video, photos, tips and a freebie. Link in comments. Emma - Clever Classroom
