The last of the Luftwaffe's Phantom force are being retired at a special ceremony on 29 June 2013. Luftwaffe Phantom F-4F JG 71 Richtofen , Wittmund.JG 71 was also the first to start flying the F-4 in March 1974. The first copy of an F-4E was delivered in 1973, it was 37 of 01 who had received a special livery for the occasion. A total of 263 "Phantom" were acquired by Germany, including 88 in the pattern recognition RF-4E in 1971.
