Elephants have been known to die of a broken heart when a mate dies. They refuse to eat and will lie down, shedding tears, until they starve to death. They reject all human help.

Elephants love reunions. They recognize one another after years and years of separation and greet each other with wild, boisterous joy. There's bellowing and trumpeting, ear flapping and rubbing. Trunks entwine.

Mother and Son ~ from the Elephant Nature preserve in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Nawaan (the pup) is a 3 week old baby elephant that was born in the preserve. His mother was rescued from Cambodia, where land mines had severely damaged her front feet. Mommy and baby are both doing well & this little guy now has a happy childhood

Some people may find those wrinkles quite gross, but I think it just makes my precious little elephants cuter ♥

Baby steps. We all have to start somewhere and the best place to start is next to family!
