I might ditch the desk in my studio apt. and try something like this - allows for more function. DIY Craft Storage: You don't need to spend a fortune to create a storage-packed hobby area. "Quaint and Quirky" photostream The Cubes are from Michaels craft store. They are intended to be scrapbooking organizers, but we found that if you stack them together, they are the perfect size for a table. The top is a door which ended up being the perfect size.
DIY Craft table... I've got to try this will make a great to store the kids craft supplies and give us a place to work... (2) 9 cube closet maid cubes..had bead board cut and nailed to back to cover opening bead board side out..paint back..find some new/old/used counter top and screw about 6 screws in each side from under top of 9 cube cabinet into bottom of counter top.

Long narrow craft area: this would serve to divide the bedroom into half art studio and half.... guest room? Computer lab for hubby? Basically run a skinny work surface down the middle of the room, and build floor to ceiling storage behind it, so I am surrounded by usable workspace, but only taking up half of the bedroom.
