Use the book Chrysanthemum to teach the kids about the impact of unkind words on our hearts. Each time you hear someone in the story say something unkind or hurtful, crumple the paper heart to show what hurtful words do to our hearts. Talk about how even if we try to "smooth" out the heart, the scars will always be there.
