    Why canned tomatoes? Why would you suggest canned over fresh? I thought it was pretty universally acknowledged that canned tomatoes are bad news.

    Canned tomatoes are fine if you're making pasta sauce or something. I usually buy fresh, but canned are great for sauces.

    Canned aren't good AFAIK because of the acidity+BPA=yikes. Plus fresh tomatoes are just the best! Try those heirlooms... mmm!

    I like diced tomatoes in a Tetrapak. BPA not an issue there. Plus fresh tomatoes don't have as much lycopene.
