I used to not really like this quote. I don't subscribe to the idea of the past or the future. The only moment is "Now"... at least, in my experience. However, I see the intention and meaning behind this quote now. Every time you're tempted to react in the same old way, ask yourself if you want to be a prisoner or a pioneer. You can take out the words "past" and "future" and it retains it's meaning. -- ML
