Roy Lichtenstein's Drowning Girl (1963) on display at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid-1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States.
Roy Lichtenstein, DROWNING GIRL. 1963, American. Lichtenstein was one of the leading artists of the Pop Art movement, working primarily in parody and drawing his inspiration from comic strips. Period: POP ART.
Roy Lichtenstein. Drowning Girl. 1963. Lichtenstein based many of his early paintings on imagery he found in comic books. The source for this work is Run for Love! published by DC Comics in 1962, the cover of which the artist significantly altered to arrive at the finished composition. In the original illustration, the drowning girl’s boyfriend appears in the background, clinging to a capsized boat. He cropped the image dramatically, showing the girl alone and encircled by a threatening wave.

My mother's favorite painting...Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth 1948. Christina was a family friend and had (most likely) polio. She would drag herself around from place to place. Wyeth's wife was used as the model for this painting though. The house depicted has been restored much to this state and the painting is at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Roy Lichtenstein making Ben-day Dots, the hallmark of his Pop-art. The Ben-Day dots printing technique dates to 1879. I believe Lichtenstein's technique of the dots, it is detailed and defined effectively,by his constant consistency built throughout his work, to make an well known recognition of how dedicated, loyal he was to his work and producing original, fresh artwork. Therefore I believe his skills in his gradual grown techniques are very successful and produced inspirational to myself, for how he has used his techniques to explore newer possibilities and experiences in the art society.

Roy Lichtenstein - Crying Girl (1964). Lichtenstein took images from comic books, and then altered them and defined details to make them more eye catching.
"Crying Girl" (1964) by Roy Lichtenstein, I've always much preferred Roy Lichenstein to Andy Warhol when it comes to pop art because doing comic book kind of art is very hard to do.
By Roy Lichtenstein- I like how he takes a style used in comic books and makes people reconsider what they think art is.
Roy Fox Lichtenstein was an American pop artist born in New York, 1923. He became a leading figure in the new art movement, along with Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns. Most of his work was influenced by advertising and comic books. In1939 he took summer classes at the Art Students League of New York. He received a Master of fine arts degree in 1949 from the Ohio State University. He started teaching at Rutgers University in 1960. He died September 29, 1997.

I can't believe It. I forgot to have children!, Roy Lichtenstein. 1971. Roy Lichtenstein is a pop art artist. This is one of his postcards displaying a comic with a woman crying and saying: ''I can't believe It. I forgot to have children!'' I chose this artwork, because it displays a woman's role as a mother and the pressure of it.
The pop art Roy Lichtenstein 50s-ish cartoon of the woman in tears bemoaning the fact that she “forgot to have children”.

Girl before a Mirror Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973) Boisgeloup, March 1932. Oil on canvas. The girl reaches out to the reflection, as if trying to unite her different "selves." The diamond-patterned wallpaper recalls the costume of the Harlequin, the comic character from the commedia dell'arte with whom Picasso often identified himself—here a silent witness to the girl's psychic and physical transformations.

Pablo Picasso, LES DEMOISELLES D'AVIGNON. 1907, Spain. Picasso is probably one of the most famous artists ever, and is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for inventing the constructed sculpture and collage. This piece was groundbreaking and controversial due to confrontational, angular female figures. This piece is likely influenced by African and Tribal art and is considered to have paved the way for cubism and modern art. Period: CUBISM.
