      Church of San Giovanni Battista in the alpine village of Mogno in the Swiss canton of Ticino. Architect by Mario Botta. It was built between 1994 and 1996 on the site of an older church (from 1626), which was levelled by an avalanche in 1986. Overlay patterns are constantly changing by shifting sunlight. The church is named after St. John the Baptist.

      Interior of the Church of San Giovanni Battista in Mogno, Switzerland: Modern marble & granite church designed by Ticinese architect Mario Botta (b. 1943), The roof is glazed, & the rest of the church is strewn inside & out, with alternating runs & blocks of grey Riveo granite & white Peccia marble, which are native to the region. The church was erected between 1994 & 1996 on the site of its 350-year old predecessor, which was destroyed by an avalanche in 1986.
