My mudroom will look like this one day! The layout of my mudroom is exactly like this, so the drawers and bench would fit perfectly. Having an efficient place to hand coats, hats, and bags is smart. I also love the open cubbies with baskets. The special place for shoes is my favorite aspect of this room, though! I hate how our shoes always pile up at the back door. Great solution!

Install a shower basin and floor drain in your mudroom to collect wet footwear. Add a wall faucet and flexible hose attachment for rinsing off mud and debris. (It's also handy for a quick pet bath.) And don't forget to include a fold-down bench for putting on shoes or stacking a few cleanup towels.

Front Door: Stylish Storage--This may sound crazy, but I dream about having an entry way like this....

Create zones for children with cubbies, drawers and shoe areas.

My hall is the same width as my front door. And my front door was made to measure because it's 3 inches narrower than a normal door. But one day I will have a hall like this!

Love this! Each family member has a place for all their stuff. Especially great for kids' shoes, coats, backpacks, hats, gloves, etc, etc.

As a Realtor I often show houses that have this awkward space in side the front door - too small for a living room - but not the best place for an office - this idea of using it as a make-shift mud room totally solves that problem. Love the built in cubbies, too. Flashback to elementary school but in a good way.

I love stand alone storage units for coats, backpacks and purses! I could use one at every door in our house.

Hooks for coats, floor-level cubbies for shoes, baskets up top for things used less often...love the organization in this mudroom!

Like the idea of drawer storage in the mudroom.

We have black and white tile (installed before we bought the house, and not very well, I might add) in our primary bath. These stripes may need to happen in there. And the beadboard. And also probably the hooks.

Locker Room We moved this wall 3 feet into the garage to claim more space for this formerly cramped back entry. Custom locker units fit perfectly into the bumped-out space. A modern leaf-pattern wallpaper adds designer style and sets the lively color scheme in motion. Baskets above and drawers below alternate holding seasonal items, and the deep bench is a handy drop zone or convenient place to sit when slipping on or off shoes.

Exactly what I am picturing for my dream entryway... one stop drop off & organization for all that stuff you drop as soon as you hit the door!!
