Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do we do to ourselves. - from The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. One of my all-time favorite books. books-worth-reading
This book touched my heart. It is still my favorite book to this day. Mitch Albom is my favorite writer and it pushed me to read many more of his books. This is the one book that I can honestly say that I have read and reread many times.

Sarah's Key #sarahskey A great WWII book from the point of view of a jewish child living in France, and a present day journalist researching WWII.
My favorite book of all time: Sarah's Key. About a girl's unforgettable journey during the Holocaust
Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay - This is one of my favorite books so far. It was incredibly sad to read but really good too. It's one of those books that sticks with you.
Sarah's Key- amazing book but incredibly sad... and they're making it into a movie although I can't say I'll see it in the theater's due to amount of tears I'll shed!
Such an amazing book. Sarahs Key - She closed the door on the little white face, turned the key in the lock. Then she slipped the key into her pocket. The lock was hidden by a pivoting device shaped like a light switch. It was impossible to see the outline of the cupboard in the paneling of the wall. Yes, he’d be safe there. She was sure of it. The girl murmured his name and laid her palm flat on the wooden panel. “I’ll come back for you later. I promise.” -From Sarah’s Key, page 9-
Heard this was an amazing book today at bible study. It's at the top of my reading list.

Worth Reading, Margaret Mitchell, Books I Ve, Civil War, Books Books, Favorite Books, Favorite Movie, Time Favorite
My all time favorite book and movie. In 1936 Margaret Mitchell publishes Gone with the Wind. Three years later it hits the silver screen, starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.
It really is an incredible book. I wonder if Margaret Mitchell would have lived if she would written us a sequel that was worth reading. tammster62
Also among my Top Five Favorite books...the epic novel of love, loss, and betrayal set on a backdrop of the civil war. For all her faults, Scarlett O'Hara is my all-time favorite heroine. Scarlett was strong, beautiful and determined...she just didn't always make the best choices in getting what she wanted or needed...
Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell. One of my favorite books. It's pretty long, but totally worth it! <3
All time favorite book and movie! I first read the book when I was 19 (I think), after seeing the movie several times. Best novel ever written, period. Margaret Mitchell's only novel - she didn't need to write another one - she wrote the perfect novel on her first try; very impressive and amazing. What a great mind, what a great writer. Even as long as the book is, I still have read it a few times.
Favorite book of all time, favorite movie of all time.
Gone with the Wind- my MOST favorite thing!!
Yamina's favorite books books-worth-reading
Gone with the Wind is a novel written by Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. It depicts the experiences of Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to come out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea. A historical novel, the story is a Bildungsroman or coming-of-age story, with the title taken from a poem written by Ernest Dowson. Gone with the Wind was popular with American readers from the onset and was the top American fiction bestseller in the year it was published and in 1937. As of 2014, a Harris poll found it to be the second favorite book of American readers, just behind the Bible. More than 30 million copies have been printed worldwide. Written from the perspective of the slaveholder, Gone with the Wind is Southern plantation fiction. Its portrayal of slavery and African Americans is controversial, as well as its use of a racial epithet and ethnic slurs. However, the novel has become a reference point for subsequent writers about the South, both black and white. Scholars at American universities refer to it in their writings, interpret and study it. The novel has been absorbed into American popular culture. Margaret Mitchell was imaginative in the use of color symbolism, especially the colors red and green, which surround Scarlett O'Hara. Mitchell identified the primary theme as survival. She left the ending speculative for the reader, however. She was often asked what became of her lovers, Rhett and Scarlett. She did not know, and said, "For all I know, Rhett may have found someone else who was less difficult." Two sequels authorized by Mitchell's estate were published more than a half century later. A parody was also produced. Mitchell received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for the book in 1937. It was adapted into a 1939 American film. The book is often read or misread through the film. Gone with the Wind is the only novel by Mitchell published during her lifetime
This book is one that is difficult to put down and hard to believe that it is a true story. The research that must have gone into the writing of this book must have been very demanding but also satisfying. This story should have been told long ago as the generation it affected is nearly gone but all generations should read this book as it shows mans courage, tenacity, and forgiveness.

Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. The Sept 2013 Book Club pick for the Brooklin Branch Library. In 1943 the Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared; this is the story of on of it's survivors, Louis Zamperini.
Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken is an incredible biography of Louis Zamperini - an Olympic runner, Air Force pilot, Japanese prisoner of war, recovered alcoholic, husband, and minister. It's a must-read!
The book jacket describes the contents as “A World War II story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption.” It is all of that and more. The protagonist is Louis Zamperini who, at the hands of his Japanese captors, survived torture, starvation and sadism that plumb the depths of human evil. It is also the story of the men who endured those horrific conditions with him.
My favorite book of the year so far, about an Olympic runner, drafted to WWII as a bombadier, shot down and left drifting on a raft for more than a month...amazing story.
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand: A biography of Olympic runner and World War II bombardier, Louis Zamperini, who had been rambunctious in childhood before succeeding in track and eventually serving in the military, which led to a trial in which he was forced to find a way to survive in the open ocean after being shot down. -Destiny Quest
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Just finished reading this book for our book club. Could not put it down. Laura Hillenbrand and I both went to Kenyon College. Wish I could write like she does.
Truly amazing story of Louis Zamperini, a WWII bomber crash survivor, castaway, POW, and Olympic runner. Excellent writing by Laura Hillenbrand, author of Seabiscuit.
An amazing story deserves an amazing teller. Laura Hillenbrand does an amazing job!! Amazing book!

One of my favorite books that I read as a kid. Read it again not too long ago....still great.
my all time favorite book. I could read it over and over and never get tired of reading it
Loved this book as a kid because it was so disturbing. That sounds weird. As an adult, it was a warning against an extreme society. The people in power control everything. Children receive their career assignments and learn nothing else. It survives on an uneducated society (sounds familiar). There's one part where they describe how sickly, or difficult babies are euthanized. Not a great children's book in retrospect, but I don't think it was suppose to be originally.
Here's one I want to read again as an adult! One of my very memorable reads as a kid!

Probably one of the best relationship books I've ever read - all about how people give and receive love in different ways (doing things for him, telling him in words, buying him gifts, spending quality time, sharing physical touch). If you give differently than he receives....well, the communication doesn't always get through. Interesting concept and a recommended book.

"The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini ~ One of my favorite books. Quite depressing but it keeps you on your toes & makes you want to read more.
The Kite Runner - Childhood in war torn Afghanistan, novel about love, honor, guilt, fear and redemption. Amazing book! 'For you, a thousand times over'
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. This was the ultimate book - unforgettable. Read sometime in the mid-2000s.
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. A friendship between a wealthily boy and the son of his father's servant. Moving but would be even more difficult to read now than it was several years ago (when I read it), given that the book is set in Afganistan.
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini - The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir, a young boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, whose closest friend is Hassan, his father's young Hazara servant. The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of Afghanistan's monarchy through the Soviet invasion, the exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime.

I've read and loved The Kite Runner, so I think it's time to try A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author. Two more books to recommend for your reading list!
1000 Splendid Suns reflects the violence and hope of Aghanistan from a woman’s point of view. The prose is poignantly and beautifully expressive, poetic in ways that touch the heart and the spirit. Khladed Hosseini, author of Kite Runner, captures war and personal conflict in ways that make history and news intimately personal. One of my favorites from Book Club
