I think this might not be as much work as flowers since you wouldn't have to deadhead them. And it's beautiful.

Hollyhocks. The non powderpuff kind are so lovely. Ancient. The bottoms get raggedy but so what?
I could do this with my patio window box - including the sign - and change the goodies with the seasons.

Beautiful Flower Box - I think the large chartreuse foliage is sweet potato vine, the white flower is bacopa, the orange flower is trailing petunia, and the blue-violet flower is scaevola. Let me know if you think differently!
