Valerie Squared... Rome Italy Valerie Jardin is a mighty fine model it turns out. She had mentioned this mirror to me a few minutes before as we were wandering the streets of Roma. So when we actually passed by it I couldn't just... pass by it. Would YOU?? I mean seriously... who could pass up THIS Kodak moment! #fujifilmx_us Fujifilm X Series US #rome #italy #postsfromrome

When we first got to Rome I was jonesing to see ruins baby! So Valerie Jardin Ugo Cei his lovely wife and Ken Lyons trekked over to see the Roman Forum. Although it's a better sunrise than sunset place (we were there in the late afternoon)... to my utter joy and delight there was an AWESOME sky! Valerie rolled her eyes at me... and we giggled once again at the differences between her as a street photographer and me as a landscape photographer. Skies are one of those differences. So we…

Paris. Holding you in love and light. So this happened... Our beloved stepson Caleb Dolister was in Paris yesterday. You can imagine what that was like. Heart in throat! But I'm learning that truly the best thing to do at moments like this is hold light expand it into a zone where there IS only love and light - and hold everyone in it. It's a form of prayer and I've seen it work miracles. And... they were all OK. We were able to text. (Technology working for Good thank God!) Caleb was…

"Walk the Walk"... Rome Italy After shooting sunrise at the Roman Forum all we had to do was turn around and watch all the beautifully dressed Italian people walking to work. Suddenly we were street photographers! This gentleman made it easy. I imagined him to be a spy. Or a plastic surgeon. It could go either way. Valerie Jardin and my first Q&A video from Rome is now live! Watch it right here: http://ift.tt/1SJy9MQ. It's a fun one another in the video series I'm doing as I move along through my "Postcards From an Artist" project ... and we shot it at The Capital in Rome. It was just one take answering 3 really good questions that came in both here and on my blog over the past couple of days. Got a query for us? Leave a comment on my blog... or drop it in the comments below. We'll be doing a couple…

"Down the Street"... Siena Italy Here's another of my recent doodles... as I dream about and plan to be in Rome and beyond over the next month. There's been so much to organize and plot out because I want to do so much to bring you along with me! It's a pretty ambitious plan. There's alot to share already and it hasn't even started! Here's Valerie Jardin and my official announcement of the project we're doing in while we're in Rome called "Postcards From Rome": http://ift.tt/1UtmNT0…

"Cig & Nails"... Rome Italy I loved this woman SO. HARD. Her red coat her little shoes like slipper. And the cig. The nails. Love. #postcardsfromrome #postsfromrome #roma #rome #fujifilmx_us Fujifilm X Series US X-Pro 2 XF 16-55mm f/2.8

Again... NOT Las Vegas! This is one of the fountains in Piazza Navona here in Rome. I strolled through it last night. I'm not really sure who this is... or what's the scene is all about. If I'm honest fountains kind of creep me out for some reason. It's like I think they're going to come to life after midnight or something. (too many Twilight Zones when I was a kid apparently) But I loved the colors the light and perspective... and honestly the not-Las-Vegasness of it all. I think it's sad…

Postcards From Rome: The Arches O'er River Tiber... Rome Italy On a gorgeous cloudy day I walked along the river and contemplated. I really hadn't used my camera much yet; I was mostly just soaking in the vibe enjoying the air feeling amazed I was in Rome - which had only been a dream I'd held for so long. This moment happened. Landscape yes. But containing the sense of reflection color mood and just-outside-the frame activity that I felt in my mind that day. Stirring unsettled in…

The streets at night: Rome. Ken Lyons and I hit the streets late one night to find some coolio long exposure moments. We were not disappointed! I love this perspective the monochrome mystery of it all... and the deserted feeling. It's kind of spooky gritty and historic all at once. I'm in Germany now... moving a little slowly because I tweaked my back! So inconvenient. But the hubs is here so I'm alllll good. We spent a couple of nights in Munich and today we hop in a car and hit the…
