Flabbersmashed About You by Rachel Vail; illustrated by Yumi Heo | I loke how the author describes the feeling of flabbersmashed... "I open my mouth to yell...bt what might come out is crying..." Great opportunity to start conversations about anger being use as a "mask" feeling.
11/8: Read aloud for teaching empathy to children. I love this book because we don't need a reason to be generous and kind (no, not even a holiday), it should be a part of who we are and how we act every day.
Mrs. Knight's Smartest Artists: Color poems- describing a color with all 5 senses and decorating with images drawn or cut from magazines. This would work as well in a gen ed classroom as in the art room.
Wilma Jean deals with anxiety! This fun and humorous book addresses the problem of anxiety in a way that relates to children of all ages. It offers creative strategies for parents and teachers to use that can lessen the severity of anxiety.
