French Milk by Lucy Knisley, graphic travelogue that recounts the daily delights of a trip to Paris.
Through delightful drawings, photographs, and musings, twenty-three-year-old Lucy Knisley documents a six-week trip she and her mother took to Paris when each was facing a milestone birthday.
Chicagoan, Lucy Knisley's French Milk The book is a travelogue of Lucy's six-week stay in Paris with her mom. There are lovely drawings and photographs of Lucy's visits to museums and flea markets and a detailed account of all the food she ate. What's not to like?

French Milk by Lucy Krisley -- A 20-somethings memoir about a five week trip to Paris with her mother. I identified with so much of this (feeling your childhood dying around you, regressing back to feeling like a spoiled 9-year old when you stay with your parents, etc). It is a great book not only for the simple story but also because it made me want to pick up my pen and write/draw.
French Milk by Lucy Knisley - Through drawings, photos, and musings, 23 yr old Lucy documents a 6 week trip she and her mother took to Paris. With a quirky flat in the 5th arrondissement, they set out to explore, watching fireworks over the Eiffel Tower on New Year's Eve, visiting Oscar Wilde's grave, & loafing at cafés. What results is not only a sweet and savory journey through the City of Light but a moving, personal look at a mother-daughter relationship.
french milk, lucy knisley: touchstone. [illustrated by lucy knisley] Some graphic novels blow you away with jarring visuals or literary prose. This is not one of them. This novel is just simply charming. You are provided a glimpse of the curiosities of Paris through the eyes of a young woman, which is decidedly different (not necessarily in a bad way) from the perspective of someone who has been around the block. (…) It is the perspective of someone who misses her boyfriend back home, who

Pride & Prejudice Graphic Novel In 2009, Marvel tried to turn young women into comic book readers by issuing “Pride and Prejudice” as a graphic novel. The cover art plays down — even disguises — the book’s sexy interior. On the outside, a primly presented Keira Knightley look-alike, drawn by Sonny Liew, graces a spoof of Seventeen magazine. Inside, the illustrator Hugo Petrus characterizes Lizzy Bennet as a sultry, full-lipped, tanned hottie.

Are you my mother? A comic drama by Alison Bechdel. Just what you want to read if in-depth therapy is your thing. Well worth reading from a master of finely observed and rendered detail; yet it is also a bummer wrapped in a downer wrapped in a meaty coating of I didn't really want to read it carefully. At least not now. "Marbles" by Ellen Forney has some laughs, and I guess I really need those from the great women cartoonists to be truly happy with their work.
Are You My Mother: A Comic Drama, Alison Bechdel (May 1) Bechdel’s second graphic novel about her family is a heartfelt inquiry into the author’s relationship with her mother — and of course, relationships with mothers in general — as well as the nature of her own artwork and personal journey, buoyed with just the right amount of eyebrow-raising and clever asides to keep us smirking along, but filled with uncompromising and important truths about art and family.

A graphic novel about faith, romance, first love, and growing up: "Blankets" is sad and sweet and a perfect reminder of what teenage love was like.
Graphic Novel Classics: Blankets, by Craig Thompson. Wrapped in the landscape of a blustery Wisconsin winter, Blankets explores the sibling rivalry of two brothers growing up in the isolated country, and the budding romance of two coming-of-age lovers. A tale of security and discovery, of playfulness and tragedy, of a fall from grace and the origins of faith. (Goodreads)

Books for Teens: BLACK HOLE – CHARLES BURNS (1995) Charles Burns released his 12-issue comic book series Black Hole over a decade from 1995, a bleak but brilliant tale of suburban alienation when teenagers who contract a mysterious sexually transmitted disease start to develop bizarre physical mutations, all drawn in eerie black and white, evoking the feel of classic teen horror films.
