The triumpal entry of Christ into Jerusalem took place on Sunday before the Passover, which fell on Friday in A.D. 31 Jesus had arrived Bethany, and had rested there over the Sabbath. As explained in Luke 19:28-44, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and presented himself as the Messiah and King as foretold in Zechariah 9:9. He entered Jerusalem in a way that fulfilled Messianic prophecy.
