Is it the Holi Festival in India and even the elephant can not seem to escape it, or is it that he is just 'dirt-bathing' -- blowing and spraying from a pile of yellowish-turmeric-colored dirt, and having some fun doing it?

Elephant Dust Bath - India visually beautiful but do wonder if color pigments hurt animals eyes...know is used in Holi festivals and Elephants do play in regular dust. Awareness always in treatment of animals.

Elephant Dust Bath II: Photo and caption by Mia Collis Ithumba in Tsavo East National Park is the next phase of the elephant’s long road to rehabilitation at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The trust rescues and rehabilitates orphaned elephants in Kenya. Once the elephants are old enough, they are transported from a nursery in Nairobi to a remote area in the bush. Here it can take up to 10 years before they are fully ready to leave the keepers and join a wild or ex orphan herd.

The people that work at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, have extraordinary dedication to orphaned elephants and rhinos! Many of these orphans have been traumatized, after watching their parents killed. When they arrive, each orphan gets caretakers that stay with them 24/7, including sleeping with them. The loving keepers become substitute "parents", giving the babies the best possible chance of survival, and good mental health, and the best chance to return to the wild some day.

    Elephant Bee, nature amazes me.

nice elephant photo. I find elephants a very hard and interesting subject for photography for a reason I cannot explain.
