The known world map. It was said in the scriptures that the promised land of the 'new' jerusalem would be HIDDEN from all nations until the time of the fulfilling of the Gospel would be brought forth, the reason being that it must be a free land of choice, to precede its coming. This freedom would bless the righteous and legitimately incriminate the wicked, for because they possess freedom, judgement is fair. Even when Lehi came 600BC (orig. Native Americans) , it remained hidden, as prophesied.

Scale of the Planets - Space Facts : There are 8 planets in our solar system, divided into two types; large gas giants and smaller rocky terrestrial planets. The order from closest to the Sun outwards is; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and finally Neptune. Until 2006 Pluto was also classed as a planet , however it is now classified as a dwarf planet

All the Planets to Scale :: This minimalist infographic does an excellent job showing the size differences, to scale, between the planets in our solar system. Thankfully, it’s not a big-fish/little-fish scenario or Jupiter would eat us all.
A nice, clean infographic displaying the different planets in our solar system to scale. Another excellent resource for teaching a solar system unit. This resource in a classroom would help students better understand the ratios between different planets. Print out this image and post it on a wall, or print it out for each student. It is a quick reminder of how big our solar system is. Great for visual learners!

Astronomers have spotted a planet 13 times more massive than Jupiter. The planet orbits a star called Kappa Andromedae that is 2.5 times the mass of the sun and is located 170 light-years away from Earth.

Astronomers using Japan's Subaru 8.2-meter telescope, located atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii, have reported discovering a new planet around the star Kappa Andromedae. With all the planets being discovered lately, that wouldn't seem like a big deal, but this is only one of (now) 13 planets classified as 'directly-imaged', and is actually only one of maybe six that have actually been pictured (the rest have only been inferred by seeing the effects they have on objects around them).
'Super-Jupiter' Discovery: In a rare direct photo of a world beyond Earth, astronomers have spotted a planet 13 times more massive than Jupiter, the largest planet in our own solar system. False color, near infrared image of the Kappa Andromedae star system as seen by the Subaru Telescope in Hawai'i. Almost all of the light of the host star, on which the image is centered, has been removed through image processing. A Super-Jupiter planet is clearly visible to the upper left.

More than 40 years after Apollo 17 departed for space, NASA has recreated the "Blue Marble" image of Earth, which was the first comprehensive look at our planet from above. http://ti.me/xziZoP
The Earth. Terra Firma. Gaia. We use all of these names for our home in space. It took astronauts and spacecraft that could get a good distance away from Earth before we could capture such a portrait of our home planet. This updated photo of our planet comes from NASA’s most recent “Blue Marble” series of observations and was taken in January 2012.
「Most Amazing High Definition Image of Earth - Blue Marble 2012」By NASA Goddard Photo and Video NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
Reminiscent of the iconic 1972 Blue Marble photo of Earth, this stunning image was composited using multiple images of the planet’s surface captured on Jan. 4 by the VIIRS instrument aboard the Suomi NPP satellite........!!!!!!!!!
It's a familiar image, our blue planet suspended in the dark expanse of space. But now the famous 'Blue Marble' photograph, originally taken by the crew of the Apollo 17 spacecraft, on 7 December 1972, has been updated. This striking image of the Earth was taken on 4 January 2012 from Suomi NPP, NASA's most recently launched Earth-observing satellite.
Nasa's latest amazing 'blue marble' photo of Earth Nasa's amazingly cool pictures of Earth or 'Blue Marble' started in 1972 when Apollo astronauts took photographs of our world from 28,000 miles away. The images that came back looked like a blue marble in space. Since then, the space agency has used the term for spectacular hi-def images of our planet created from satellite imagery and often released once a year. This is the latest photo they have captured using imagery from Nasa's most recently launched Earth-observing satellite, Suomi NPP.

A "Rose" Made of Galaxies Highlights Hubble's 21st Anniversary. In celebration of the 21st anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope's deployment into space, astronomers at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Md., pointed Hubble's eye to an especially photogenic group of interacting galaxies called Arp 273.
A rose made of galaxies: This image of a pair of interacting galaxies called Arp 273 was released to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the launch of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The distorted shape of the larger of the two galaxies shows signs of tidal interactions with the smaller of the two. It is thought that the smaller galaxy has actually passed through the larger one.

Like one of those infinite zoom images, this flash animation lets you zoom from 1x10-35 to 9.3x1026 by dragging the scroll bar across the bottom. Since I’m visual, that’s from 0.00000000000000000000000000000000001 meters (the Plank Length) up to 930,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 meters (the estimated size of the universe).
