Frugal Living: DIY Fabric Softener-- Vinegar helps your laundry to rinse clean and the baking soda helps fluff. If scent or fragrances bother you, use about 1/4 cup of white vinegar for rinse. It acts as a fabric softener and removes any soap and mineral residue. If items have static once they dry, take a sheet of aluminum foil, form into a ball, toss it in dryer to remove static. This works well for bath towels that have lost their fluff and absorbency due to soap residue and hard water.

Homemade fabric softener - I absolutely LOVE this! Works better than Snuggle, IMO - I did have an extremely faint smell of vinegar in my bath towels (not in the hand towels, washcloths, or any other article of clothing) I used Suave - since you can buy one bottle for a dollar - but really, you maybe save about two dollars....I would still choose this over store bought any day.

Homemade fabric softener, made with vinegar. Only vinegar, if you choose. Or add essential oil for fragrance. Great idea, it rinses all the detergent from laundry and cleans the washing machine.
