Tudor movie costumes
Cary Elwes and Helena Bonham Carter in Lady Jane (1986) Costume Designers: Sue Blane and David Perry I've never seen HBC's pre-Burton work. She is simply being swallowed up by that dress!
Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Jane Grey -Wow - these are the best period costumes I think I have ever seen in a movie. Hardly any romanticism to mar the work.
This dress is nearly a perfect Tudor gown, only problem is she is swimming in it. Other than that is it perfect.
Lady Jane, this was a good movie.
1307- Upon his accession to the throne of England, Edward II immediately calls back his exiled lover, Piers Gaveston. Gaveston is given the earldom of Cornwall & basically runs the government while Edward digs ditches & plants hedges. Gaveston imprisons the chief minister of the previous reign & reverses the persecution of Scotland. England's major landowners, who enjoyed grabbing land in Scotland & who are jealous of Gaveston's influence, will kill Gaveston five years later.
