We are doing something like this on our landing. Bead board floor to ceiling with a shelf up high, hooks, bench bottom with shoe storage underneath. It's in the plans for this summer!!!

mudroom- I personally wouldn't do all white hense the words "mud room" since in our line of work we aren't just dealing with a little bit of mud ;)

If i ever build a house it will have a Mudroom: and it needs a sink, and a small bathroom and shower right off to the side, BEFORE they drag into the house. The bathroom can also serve as the main floor bathroom for guests.
