Wow! Look at this! In 1881, Laura Ingalls had her portrait taken with sisters Carrie and Mary -- perhaps just before Mary went away to the School for the Blind. It was the first photograph they sat for. Ma and Pa saw it as a treasure and a remembrance, the three girls together.

Carrie Ingalls, the frail younger sister who later became a renowned newspaper woman and successful homesteader. She married David Swanzey and became stepmother to his two children. She never had any children of her own.

Caroline Celestia "Carrie" Ingalls Swanzey (Aug 1870 - June Caroline Celestia Ingalls (Carrie) was born in Montgomery County, Kansas. Although she was born during the events of Little House on the Prairie, this is not made known in the books.
