Yoder's Swiss Steak

1.5 hrs to cook


2 lb Beef round steak


1 1/2 cup Celery
1 Green pepper, medium
1 Onion, large

Canned Goods

2 cup Beef broth


1 can(s) 16 oz. tomato sauce

Baking & Spices

3/4 cup Flour
1 tsp Salt and pepper

Oils & Vinegars

3 tbsp Vegetable oil


1 tsp Kitchen bouquet

    Swiss Steak •1½-2lb. round steak•2T flour•1 sliced green pepper•s,p•2T oil•1 sliced onion•16oz tomatoes, cut up•1T thick bottled steak sauce•Cut steak into serving pieces. Coat w flour, s,p. Brown meat in oil. Pour off excessive fat. In crock pot, combine meat w tomatoes, onion, green pepper, steak sauce. Cover, cook on low for 6-8 hrs or until tender. Thicken juices w additional flour, dissolved in a small amount of water, if desired. 5-6 servings. Serve w mashed potatoes.

Swiss+Steak+Supper. Very delicious spin on beef, potatoes, and carrots. And it's a crock pot recipe!!!

I always loved my mom's Swiss Steak, but this updated version is awesome. A little bit more time and work, but totally worth it. Serve it with sour cream whipped potatoes, yummy!!!
